Dr. Daniel Bos is a Clinical Epidemiologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and the Department of Epidemiology of the Erasmus MC, and holds an appointment as guest-professor at the department of Cardiovascular Sciences at the University of Leuven, Belgium. His research is dedicated to the elucidation of the etiology and pathophysiology of arteriosclerosis, and the clarification of the contribution of arteriosclerosis to neurovascular disease and dementia, with a strong emphasis on the use of medical imaging. Using population-based, and patient-based approaches, he specifically aims at obtaining relevant imaging-based biomarkers for improved understanding of arteriosclerosis and improved prediction of the abovementioned diseases, and at identifying potential targets for intervention strategies. The multidisciplinary aspect of his research allowed him to establish strong collaborations with numerous departments within the ErasmusMC as well as with other renowned institutions, including the University of Valladolid, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and the Neurological Institute of Columbia University, which facilitate a wide utilization of his research.
